Leadership opportunities for students

  • Center for Leadership and Service The David & Wanda Brown Center for Leadership & Service provides the structure and resources to prepare students to become productive citizens and assume roles of leadership and service in a culturally diverse and increasingly complex society. The Brown Center fosters lifelong service and civic participation by engaging the University with its greater community in action, change, and learning. 
  • First-Generation Academy (FGA) is a year-long leadership program with an emphasis on self-awareness, community building, and career planning for 3rd and 4th year first-generation college students at the University of Florida. The program helps prepare students to take the next step and allows ALL first-generation students at UF to participate.
  • Students Taking Action Against Racism is an agency of Student Government dedicated to the improvement of race relations on the University of Florida campus. STAAR recognizes the existence of racial inequality within society and attempts to combat it through the spread of education and empathy. The vision of STAAR is strongly based on the importance of building relationships and subsequently growing to understand the perspective of fellow students. Using events and campus based initiatives, STAAR acts as a means for all students to learn about the effects of racism and become directly involved in standing against it. 

Leadership training for faculty and staff

  • Training and Organizational Development offers the course Inclusive Leadership (GET240) to help faculty and staff build their skills in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion.
